NEW YORK CITY — The FTA's recent award of $275 million for a 9.4-mile busway in Connecticut, draws attention to these dedicated rights of way, which are a rarity in the U.S., despite the growing popularity of bus rapid transit (BRT) systems. Busways are considered a crucial component of successful, bona fide BRT systems, according to an Atlantic Cities story, which also looks at systems in Boston, Los Angeles, Miami and Pittsburgh.
