LAKEWOOD, Wash. — Due to an 11% increase in sales tax revenue, Pierce Transit plans to cancel a 28% cut in service hours that was slated for Sept. 29, The News Tribune reported. The transit system will also forgo eliminating nearly 84 jobs as planned.
Pierce Transit CEO Lynne Griffith told the paper that the agency determined it could afford to continue operating at current levels after two weeks of calculating financial models for next year’s budget. For the full story, click here.
