NEWARK, N.J. — A New Jersey lawmaker is sponsoring a bill that would let three state agencies with high-traffic websites, including New Jersey Transit, sell online ads to private companies, The Record reported.

The two-year trial program would culminate in a report examining whether the ads brought in enough money to make them worth the state’s effort.

It’s unclear how much cash those ads might bring in. Advertisements sold on Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority's website earn the state less than $100,000 a year, according to the report. For the full story, click here.
