CINCINNATI — WCPO reported that the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority (SORTA) will apply $268,278 of its remaining funding from a federal grant to the Cincinnati Streetcar project.

The money is left over from a $876,762 rail-related grant that was awarded to SORTA in 1996 that must be used or would be forfeited. The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) suggested that instead of losing the money, the transit system could transfer the funds to the streetcar project.

SORTA told the news outlet that no other regional projects qualify for the funds. For the full story, click here.
