LAS VEGAS — A Washington Post blog focuses on a new transportation start-up, Shift, which is creating its own intelligent mass private transit system. Shift’s guiding philosophy is that most city dwellers don’t care much about the vehicle that gets them from point A to point B, as long as they can get to their destination cheaply and quickly.

The company, piloting the service in downtown Las Vegas where it is headquartered, purchased 100 Teslas for the core of its fleet, which also includes a fleet of private bicycles, tiny smart cars, shuttle and on-call valets, according to the blog.

The Shift’s app uses an algorithm to calculate the users location, where they want to go and matches them to how they want to get to their destination, whether its drive, ride or bike.
