HONOLULU — With construction crews set to hit another milestone on the island’s light rail system this week, federal officials, which were set to award the project $250 million this month, are concerned that the Honolulu City Council has yet to take a final vote on extending the excise tax for five years to help pay for the system, KITV reported.

Under the current schedule council members aren't expected to take the final vote on the tax until January, however, the mayor is asking to have that process expedited. The Federal Transit Administration is also waiting on a more information about a revised cost and schedule. For the full story, click here.
