SARASOTA, Fla. — The Sarasota County Area Transit’s (SCAT) paratransit service is set to be privatized, with Mo.-based Ride Right LLC, set to officially take over operations, WWSB reports.

The move lowers operations costs from $39 a passenger to $33, saving taxpayers $600,000 a year. SCAT made 181,000 trips last year and expects to 184,000 this year.

The switch also adds over 30 new buses to the county's fleet that are equipped with real-time scheduling software and cameras to help monitor and improve driver performance. For the full story, click here.
