AMF Bruns of America announced it has entered the U.S. vehicle modification market for the paratransit industry.

The company is a one-stop shop providing wheelchair securement, occupant restraint systems and associated equipment for the safe transportation of wheelchair passengers. In the 1970’s they developed the first wheelchair safety system and invented the world’s first four-point retractor wheelchair anchoring system.

Founded in Germany in 1962, the U.S. distribution facility opened in 2013.

“As a global leader in the vehicle conversion market, we provide the complete accessories package to safely transport people with limited mobility,” said Steven Kost, operations manager of AMF Bruns of America. “This includes restraints, seating, shoulder harnesses, head & back rests and side & electric steps. We guarantee high quality and the market’s best pricing.”

AMF's products include FutureSafe — a flexibly adaptable and height adjustable head and backrest with an integrated certified shoulder belt. With two quick movements the system can be locked behind the wheelchair passenger to provide maximum security. It can simply be turned toward the vehicle wall when the vehicle is used without a wheelchair. A single seat can easily be fitted to the empty position. The system can be either side-mounted or floor-mounted and will withstand 15g rear collision forces and 20g frontal collisions.

Meanwhile,  the PROTEKTOR® system provides critical stabilization for passengers in the event of a collision. The design rules out any possibility of the wheelchair being improperly secured. The pelvic belt ensures that the passenger is always secure.

Production follows the strict rules of the ISO 9001 standard. AMF Bruns has its own testing facility, and also test its products independently through organizations, such as UMTRI, TÜV, BAST, DTC, UTAC. Additionally the company participates in national and international safety meetings, trade shows and exhibitions.
