PLAINVIEW, N.Y. — A New York bus driver carried a woman who uses a wheelchair to safety when the vehicle’s wheelchair lift lost power as the bus burst into flames, reports ABC News.

The driver smelled smoke while flames shot out from the engine as the bus pulled over. With the flames beginning to engulf the vehicles, the driver lifted the woman from her wheelchair and carried her to safety. Fire officials say they’ll likely never know the cause of the fire.
