Seon launched its new hybrid video surveillance system, which includes the Explorer® HX16 Hybrid DVR, the CHQ8PD high-definition IP interior dome camera and the CHW8PD high-definition IP exterior wedge camera.

The hybrid system was specifically designed for transit fleets that want multiple high-definition views inside and outside the vehicle while preserving their analog camera investment.

“The beauty of this hybrid recording system is that it allows fleet managers to improve image clarity where needed by adding advanced IP camera technology while continuing to support existing standard resolution cameras, “ said William Durno, sr. product manager. “This is truly a cost-effective way to upgrade your mobile surveillance systems to keep pace with constantly evolving safety and security needs.”

Explorer® HX16 16-Channel Hybrid Digital Video Recorder

Packed with powerful features, this hybrid digital video recorder will help fleet managers prepare for the future of video surveillance while letting them choose the pace. This hybrid system supports both analog and IP cameras so you can introduce high-definition camera views as needs and budget allow.

The HX16 hybrid DVR supports 12 standard resolution analog and four high-definition IP cameras for a total of 16 video and audio channels. Hybrid support allows selection of the widest range of camera options to suit the needs of every fleet. Dual hard drive support for four terabytes of storage capacity ensures maximum video retention time.

In addition to storing surveillance data to hard drive, HX16 features recording to SD card as a product option. And unlike other systems on the market that require customized programming and additional peripherals, the HX16 has been specifically designed for quick and easy IP camera installation, featuring simple plug and play technology.

Other standard features include an integrated G-sensor that monitors vehicle inertia against pre-set G-force thresholds red-flagging events exceeding the thresholds to quickly find for review, and, for vMax Commander-based systems, a Smart-Stop bus battery saver that automatically oversees earliest power down of the DVR based on wireless download scheduling needs. Also standard is a new video protection feature that allows for a graceful shutdown in case of a sudden power loss such as an accident — storing precious seconds of buffered video to the DVR hard drive for later review.

CHQ8PD IP Interior Dome Camera

Customized to suit any interior mobile surveillance application, this low-profile and vandal-resistant high-definition (HD) camera is easily adjustable to capture events inside the bus and also as a forward facing camera. This dome camera features a low-profile, vandal-resistant housing to better blend in with vehicle décor while improving image clarity with 720p progressive scan resolution. To address the needs of easy and fast installation, this high-definition dome features plug-and-play installation with power over Ethernet (POE), which eliminates the need to run separate power wiring.

CHW8PD IP Exterior Wedge Camera

A groundbreaking development in mobile camera resolution, the CHW8PD next-generation IP camera uses fully selectable 720p/1080p/3 MP progressive scan technology to deliver a clear, crisp high-definition image with up to six times the resolution of a typical analog camera — for applications where picture quality is paramount, such as license plate capture, forward facing camera recording and zooming in to find detailed video evidence. This IP67 rated camera features a weatherproof and vandal-resistant housing, protecting camera technology against the harshest outdoor conditions.

HX Accessories/Software

New versions of Seon’s vMax View playback and archiving software and vMax Commander video management and downloading software support this new system and are backward compatible with legacy Seon DVRs such as the Trooper TL2, TL4 and TL-HD as well as the Explorer TX8, DX12 and DX-HD.

A new hard drive docking station has been specifically designed with two separate slots to accommodate both the new HX16 DVR Series hard drives as well as continues to support plug in of existing TL2, TL4, TX8, DX12 and DX-HD hard drives. This means you need only one hard drive docking station to support all video retrieval needs for your Seon-equipped fleet.
