The Hyundai Rotem Co. awarded Ensco Inc. with a contract to manufacture and deliver two pairs of instrumented wheel sets, which will be installed on passenger railcars being introduced in the U.S.
Ensco will perform the design, manufacturing and operation of the instrumented wheel sets, as well as data analysis to evaluate the performance of these high-speed cars. It is also providing track geometry measurement and analysis services to Hyundai Rotem under a separate contract.
The custom-made instrumented wheel sets are for new cars that Hyundai Rotem will be delivering to the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority and Southern California Regional-Rail Authority.
