Acting FTA Administrator Sherry Little was joined by Utah Transit Authority (UTA) officials and local leaders to sign a “full funding grant agreement,” which commits $428.3 million in federal funds toward the Mid-Jordan light rail system extension.
The 10.6-mile Mid-Jordan line will open by December 2011. By the year 2030, the line is expected to carry 9,500 daily passengers, generate 3,700 new transit trips and reduce the number of highway miles traveled by 65,000 daily.
When complete, the project will include nine stations, 3,035 park-and-ride spaces, and 28 transit vehicles.
