Beginning March 2, IndyGo will launch a new IndyGo Commuter Express (ICE) service between downtown Indianapolis and Greenwood, Ind., to provide better transportation options for the community it serves.
This is the third commuter express route that the agency has launched.
“We’re excited to launch the Greenwood service as our third demonstration express route and anticipate another success story,” said Michael Terry, IndyGo’s president/CEO.
The Greenwood express service is funded for three years by a $1.8 million CMAQ (Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality) federal grant, which provides 80 percent of the funding with a 20 percent local match provided by the city of Greenwood.
The buses used for the ICE service will feature accessibility for persons with disabilities, including customers using wheelchairs; large and comfortable seats with reclining capabilities and foot rests; and overhead lighting and air/heat monitors.
