Thousand Palms, Calif.-based SunLine Transit Agency is upgrading its existing CNG station at its Indio, Calif. facility to accommodate the growing fleet usage and in preparation for the anticipated increase in multiple users. In addition, the existing AirCell Dryer will be replaced with a dryer that is compatible to the upgraded compressor.
SunLine received $189,000 from the Alternative Fuel Infrastructure Program to fund the upgrades.
The Alternative Fuel Infrastructure Program augments SunLine’s already impressive and nationally recognized environmentally conscientious public transit program. Under a separate award from the Mobile Source Air Pollution Reduction Review Committee, SunLine received $311,625 to purchase 15 heavy-duty buses equipped with dedicated alternative fuel engines. Five of the New Flyer buses joined SunLine’s existing fleet of “green clean” buses in 2007 and the remaining 10 buses were received in December 2008.
