[IMAGE]TrainTracker-full.jpg[/IMAGE]Miami-Dade Transit (MDT) was recently recognized by the National Association of Counties (NACo) for its Train Tracker service that allows Metrorail passengers to check train arrival times on their computers or mobile devices.

Train Tracker won NACo’s 2009 Achievement Award, which annually recognizes high-caliber county programs and projects that promote quality, efficient and responsive management and administration.

“We’re very honored to receive this award for our Train Tracker, but what has been most rewarding is knowing how the system has enhanced the riding experience for our customers,” MDT Director Harpal Kapoor said.

The Train Tracker system, which also features links to information about connecting bus routes and the operating status of elevators and escalators at each station, has proven very popular with Metrorail customers. Since the system’s unofficial launch in October 2007, the number of monthly site visits to the Train Tracker site has grown from 3,600 to more than 50,000.

To use Train Tracker, visit www.miamidade.gov/transit and click “Where is the Train?” in the left navigation bar under “Rider Tools.” If using a mobile device, visit www.miamidade.gov/transit/mobile/.
