Continental sells PT solutions to Constellation

Continental Automotive Switzerland AG is streamlining its portfolio and selling its Public Transit Solutions business to Canadian-based Constellation Software Inc., effective August 31.

Continental , which has managed this global business unit since the acquisition of Siemens VDO by Continental, has sites in Switzerland, Germany, the U.S., United Kingdom and Poland. The company employs approximately 550 people worldwide and specializes in urban public transportation operations control, including bus and train vehicle control and passenger information

Within Constellation Software Inc., the Public Transit Solutions segment will be renamed Trapeze ITS and be run as a separate operating group of Trapeze Software Inc., which is one of the six business units of Constellation. This autonomous business unit supports the transit sector by providing IT solutions designed for the creation and administration of better and more effective transit services.

Trapeze ITS' main office will be located in Neuhausen, Switzerland, with other offices across Europe including United Kingdom, Germany and Poland. The North American operations of Trapeze ITS will be headquartered in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
