Long Beach Transit available on Google Transit

Calif.-based Long Beach Transit announced that it made Google Transit available to its customers.

Much like the trip planner already available on www.lbtransit.com, Google Transit provides easy transit trip planning when visiting www.maps.google.com. Directions include walking to a specified bus stop, which route to take, where to get off the bus and walking directions to a final destination. One way fare and driving cost are also displayed for comparison.

"We welcome this new product that encourages the use of public transit, and believe our customers will find this tool very helpful to plan their transit needs," said Renee Simon, Chair, Long Beach Transit board of directors.

Transit planning information is also accessible by cellular phones, such as iPhone, Blackberry, WindowsMobile, S60, and other Java enabled phones.
