On Tuesday, Thomas E. Barron was named president of Parsons Transportation Group Inc. (PTG), effective October 1, 2009. In his new role, Barron will be responsible for the business unit's worldwide operations.

Barron joined Parsons in 1976 and has since held a succession of project management and business development positions throughout the corporation. His most recent position was executive vice president and global business development manager for PTG. In this capacity, he was responsible for managing the business development operation for more than 4,000 employees and for working with company leadership to establish business strategies, develop new markets and customers, and assist with the PTG, a primary global business unit of Parsons Corp.

"Tom has been a highly-valued member of our team for more than 30 years and I am thrilled to have an executive with his background and experience serve in this capacity," said Chuck Harrington, Parsons' chairman/CEO.
