Gannett Fleming (GF) was selected by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) to oversee and provide technical assistance to potentially more than $10 billion in mega transit and rail capital improvement projects that range in budget from $200 million to $6 billion at a small percentage of the capital costs.

The FTA-funded projects are located primarily in northern and northwestern California. GF's Oversight Practice is well-established in this region and specializes in balancing oversight with technical assistance to assure project success.

The engineering firm will advise on the state of the projects, issues and potential resolutions, as well as provide expert advice and technical assistance as needed. GF will also ensure that the project sponsor has the capacity and capability to develop and implement the project; adheres to "best practices;" and effectively manages and controls scope, budget, schedule, quality, safety, and the project's and applicable regulations' security performance goals.

GF is involved with more than seven key projects, several of which are multi-billion dollar initiatives involving a multitude of transportation modes, including the $1 billion Metro Gold Line Eastside Extension Light Rail Transit Project in Los Angeles, Calif.; the $4 billion Oregon Department of Transportation and Washington State Department of Transportation's Columbia River Crossing in Washington, which involves the I-5 bridge, as well as light rail and bike path elements; and the oversight of the $6 billion Santa Clara Valley Transit Authority's Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) to San Jose Extension.
