Gannett Fleming United Way donation up 16 percent
Special events at the firm's corporate headquarters this year included a kick-off breakfast with presentations by local United Way agencies, a sandwich sale fundraiser, a basket raffle featuring prizes donated by local merchants and a penny war.
Gannett Fleming, an international planning, design and construction management firm, raised $176,728 for the United Way as a result of its annual campaign. This donation represents a 16 percent increase in employee giving from last year.
Employees across the country made contributions via payroll deduction or check. Most employees indicated their contribution level using eWay, United Way's user-friendly and confidential online giving tool. Using this resource, employees could donate to the charity of their choice or to their local United Way as determined by their zip code.

The increase in contributions from our employees in a time of economic uncertainty speaks volumes about their understanding of the substantial needs that exist within our communities."
