Following a sea voyage of approximately 9,090 nautical miles, the first of two Bombardier Flexity streetcars rolled onto Vancouver's Olympic Line on Monday.
Bombardier Transportation and the City of Vancouver are co-sponsors of the Olympic Line - a unique demonstration project that will introduce Flexity streetcars to the public of Greater Vancouver, as well as to athletes and visitors from around the world, during the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
Bombardier will operate the streetcars as a free service, 18 hours a day, 7 days a week, between Jan. 21 and March 21, 2010. The vehicles are on loan from the Brussels Transport Company STIB (Societe des Transports Intercommunaux de Bruxelles).
Bombardier is an official supporter of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games and the designer and manufacturer of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Torch.
