The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) launched its official Facebook page aimed at offering better customer service to its passengers, customer base, the public and stakeholders with the opportunity to interact with each other on transit related issues.

The new Facebook page, which began this week, can be found under “Metro Los Angeles” and  is averaging 75 new fans a day for a total of more than 400 subscribers in the first few days. Metro Communications is managing the page and will be responsible for its content with comments and pictures.

Under this page the transit agency will promote other links to other Metro projects that are already on Facebook such as the Metro Silver Line, Metro Westside Subway Extension, Metro Crenshaw/LAX Transit Corridor, Metro Eastside Transit Corridor Phase 2; and the Metro Library and Archives.

Metro is responsible for improving mobility in the region by operating a fleet of buses and trains as well as managing capital projects that included the recently completed Eastside Extension of the Gold Line, the Metro Orange Line Canoga Extension as well as environmental studies currently underway for the Westside subway extension, the Crenshaw/LAX Transit Corridor project, the downtown Los Angeles Regional Connector and various bike programs, street and highway improvements projects including the successful Metro Freeway Service Patrol program.
