Houston Metro suspends driver

Sufficiently far enough along in its investigation of Monday's light-rail accident to determine that the operator of the Houston Metro bus involved was at fault for running a red light, the agency suspended the driver without pay pending the completion of its investigation.

On Monday, nine people were hospitalized after a bus and a light rail train collided near Houston Metro headquarters downtown.

A preliminary investigation showed that the bus, westbound on St. Joseph Parkway, ran a red light and collided with the train, northbound on Main.

A Houston Metro operator for 10 years, Reginald Rideout has been involved in three accidents during his employment, two of which were minor, but deemed preventable, according to Houston Metro.
