The Nashville Metropolitan Transit Authority (Nashville MTA) selected Affiliated Computer Services Inc. (ACS) to design, engineer and install a state-of-the-art passenger information system that will relay real-time transit information to message signs, the MTA Website and smart phones.

The passenger information system will be implemented at Nashville's Music City Central transit center and at bus shelters along the city's new bus rapid transit line. Message signs will have technology compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), allowing visually impaired passengers to hear information displayed on the signs at the transit center.

The system will work seamlessly with Nashville's fleet management infrastructure, which consists of a project underway by ACS to design, furnish and install a new system that includes the latest technology in 800 MHz radio communications, computer-aided dispatch (CAD) and automatic vehicle location (AVL) to manage the on-time performance and schedule for the entire Nashville MTA bus fleet via GPS.
