San Francisco extends Veolia paratransit contract

The San Francisco Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency's (SFMTA) resolution to award Veolia Transportation a new professional services contract to manage its paratransit program.

The new contract goes into effect in April 2010 and has a five-year term, with one option for the SFMTA to extend an additional five years.

Veolia Transportation has been managing paratransit services in San Francisco since 2000, which is a longer duration than any other prior contractor.

The new contract includes oversight of more than 23 service providers, including van and taxi service providers, which deliver the paratransit services. Together, they provide in excess of 1.1 million one-way trips each year.
