DesignLine delivers to the Middle East

DesignLine Middle East announced the delivery of two of its 100 percent electric buses, known as the Eco-Smart I, to the Tourism Development & Investment Co. (TDIC) for use on the Sir Bani Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

TDIC purchased the Platinum Edition of the Eco-Smart I. The vehicles were constructed on behalf of DesignLine Middle East by its parent company, DesignLine Corp., at their U.S. headquarters in Charlotte, N.C.

The ECO-Smart I Buses are expected to be operational prior to the end of June 2010, on Sir Bani Yas Island, making it the first destination in the world to have an entirely electric transportation system.
