MCI delivers to Conn., Mass.

Post Road Stages/Collins Bus Service of South Windsor, Conn. received two MCI D4505 coaches.

The two new D4505s carry 55 passengers, and are powered by a Cummins ISM 10.8-liter, 410hp engine and an Allison B500 Gen IV automatic six-speed transmission. Each coach carries a Blaupunkt audio/visual system and one is equipped with a wheelchair lift.

Meanwhile, the Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority (CCRTA) is in the midst of a significant overhaul to reduce the international tourist destination’s reliance on passenger automobiles, and has used a combination of federal stimulus funds and urban area transit funds to purchase two new 40-foot MCI Commuter Coaches to aid in that effort.

Both coaches are owned by the CCRTA and will be operated by Plymouth & Brockton Street Railway Company under an agreement for service beyond Cape Cod to Boston and Logan Airport, providing a vital connection for both residents and visitors while reducing traffic congestion between the city and Cape Cod.

Both wheelchair lift-equipped MCI coaches that will be operated by P&B will serve the 34-year-old system that links the Cape Cod towns of Barnstable, Bourne, Brewster, Chatham, Dennis, Eastham, Falmouth, Harwich, Mashpee, Orleans, Provincetown, Sandwich, Truro, Wellfleet and Yarmouth in addition to the Boston/Logan Airport connection. The CCRTA owns and operates the Hyannis Transportation Center in downtown Hyannis and its maintenance facility in South Dennis.
