MCI delivers J4500s to Dallas, Houston

Motor Coach Industries (MCI) delivered its MCI J4500 to Houston-based GHL, a family owned chauffeured transportation company. GHL will use the new coach to serve its expanding corporate convention and event business.

GHL's new MCI J4500 is a fully appointed demo that includes a top-of-the-line interior with wireless and Blaupunkt video and stereo system. It also features a Detroit Diesel Series 60 engine and an Allison B500 6-speed automatic transmission with prognostics capability.

Meanwhile, Dallas-based Tornado Bus Co. has purchased 20 MCI J4500 coaches with wheelchair lifts. Tornado's new coaches also feature clean-diesel engine technology for lower emissions as mandated by the EPA.

So far, Tornado has taken seven of the coaches with three more J4500s to be delivered by the end of October. Tornado will take delivery of 10 more J4500 coaches by the end of December 2010.

Tornado is taking its new J4500 models with Braun wheelchair lifts, Cummins engines and Allison transmissions. Inside, each coach features a Blaupunkt entertainment system with six 15-inch video monitors, enhanced lighting and Amaya seating for 52 passengers.

In other news, MCI announced that its "MCI in Motion 2010" campaign earned a Grand Award in the American Public Transportation Association's (APTA) 31st Annual AdWheel Awards competition.

The awards recognize public transportation systems and APTA business members for excellence in advertising, communications, marketing and promotion.

Created in consideration of customers' time and travel budgets, the MCI in Motion 2010 campaign included one-day road show tours at select venues across the country closer to customers' operations. The events also included ride and drive demonstrations of the MCI J4500, the industry's top-selling coach, and the popular D-Series models.
