PROVIDENCE, R.I.The Providence Journal reports that the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) unveiled its new hybrid bus and trolley on Monday. The agency is buying 63 hybrid buses and 10 hybrid trolleys to replace buses in its fleet of approximately 240 vehicles. The purchases have been made possible by federal stimulus funds.
