National Transit Institute calls for award nominations

The National Transit Institute (NTI) invites members of the transit community to nominate individuals and teams for its Achievements in Transit Training Awards by Dec. 15. The awards provide a unique opportunity to acknowledge excellence in transit training.

The Achievements in Transit Training Awards aim to identify exemplary transit training initiatives and practices; emphasize the impact of training on agency performance; and increase industry knowledge of outstanding transit training.

Employees of U.S. public transit agencies, Departments of Transportation, or other not-for-profit transit organizations are eligible.

Nominations can be submitted using the forms and additional sheets downloadable from NTI’s Website by Dec. 15. Electronic submissions are welcome.

Self-nominations are welcome. Questions regarding the awards program can be directed to Coleen Meyer at (732) 932-1700, ext. 231 or e-mail: coleenm@rutgers.edu.

An Awards Committee composed of representatives from the transit community reviews the award nominations. Nominations are evaluated based on the information provided on the nomination form and attachments.

The committee reserves the right to withhold an award in a category or select multiple winners for an award based on the quality and quantity of nominations received. Awards Committee members and their direct reports are not eligible for an award.

Nominees will be notified in writing. Individuals wishing to withdraw their names from consideration must contact NTI immediately.

The Achievements in Transit Training Awards will be presented at NTI’s Transit Trainers’ Workshop in Tampa, Fla. on April 11, 2011. Workshop registration fees are waived for individual winners or for one representative from an award winning team. In addition, award winners are recognized through press releases sent to newspapers and trade publications, as well as letters to senior management.
