Wis. activists rally for high-speed rail funds

MILWAUKEE — The Associated Press reports that labor leaders and politicians held a rally on Monday in support of a high-speed rail project, opposing the efforts of Wisconsin Republican Gov.-elect Scott Walker to scrap the deal by refusing the $810 million in federal stimulus funding.

 

Activists gathered at the Milwaukee plant of train maker Talgo Inc. and called on Walker to drop his opposition of the project. Speakers argued that the area needs the jobs, an improved train system would boost local commerce and help the environment. For the full story, click here.
