Alstom, Bombardier sign Chinese rail agreements

Alstom and Bombardier signed separate agreements with China's Ministry of Railways (MoR) aimed at strengthening their strategic partnership in the development of various products and systems, including rolling stock and signaling solutions applied in mainline and regional railways for the market in China and internationally.

Bombardier's agreement calls for further collaboration on the development of the existing high-speed and very high-speed product platforms and extending this cooperation to other platforms, if and when needed, such as regional trains.

The agreement also establishes China Railway Signal and Communication Corp. as a strategic partner for Bombardier's signaling systems, to jointly develop signaling products in order to meet the requirements of China and international markets.

Meanwhile, Alstom will work with the MoR and its Chinese industry partners to jointly design, develop and promote advanced railway products and solutions, — based on the current EMU and locomotive platforms — which meet requirements of both domestic and international markets, leveraging the respective strengths of the parties concerned.

The agreement will contribute to gear Alstom's future position on the huge Chinese market, while boosting the partnership in agreed international markets.
