No. Arizona U. launches new bus tracking system



Last week, Flagstaff, Ariz.-based Northern Arizona University's Parking and Shuttle Services announced a new bus tracking service is available to students, faculty and staff for download onto mobile devices and accessible via the Web.

"Riders can see when a bus is coming to a nearby stop from their desk or mobile device and stay out of the weather," said Erin Stam, director of Parking and Shuttle Services.

In addition to tracking the shuttles around campus, the new system can receive up-to-the-minute announcements about situations that impact service, such as road closures, accidents or weather-related slow-downs.

Mobile and Web users will see a detailed campus map showing clearly marked bus stops, estimated arrival times and pop-up information about each bus.

During peak hours, the shuttle service deploys 15 buses along the circular route around campus. Daily ridership for the shuttle system reaches more than 7,500 patrons. The shuttle service is also free to visitors.
