ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Farooque Ahmed, a naturalized U.S. citizen born in Pakistan, was sentenced on Monday to 23 years in prison after pleading guilty to two terrorism-related charges in U.S. District Court in Alexandria, Va., The Washington Post reported.

Ahmed pleaded guilty to conspiring to provide material support to al-Qaida and collecting information for a terrorist attack on a transit facility. Authorities say Ahmed plotted with people who turned out to be part of a six-month government sting. For the full story, click here.
