rollDC’s full service includes a fleet of 20 accessible taxicabs, provided by Royal Cab and the Yellow Cab Company of D.C., to serve people with disabilities using wheelchairs in the District of Columbia.
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Last week, the District unveiled its first wheelchair-accessible taxi service, rollDC, the culmination of a two-year pilot program to help the more than 12,000 residents who use wheelchairs to get around town, according to The Examiner.
Each minivan is outfitted with a special back-door ramp and hooks to secure a wheelchair or electric scooter for a cab ride anywhere in town. The National Capital Region Transportation Planning Board purchased 20 vans, with Royal Cab and Yellow Cab of D.C. each operating 10 of them. For the full story, click here.
