NextBus to equip Fort Worth’s The T

WebTech Wireless Inc. a provider of vehicle fleet location-based services and telematics technology, received a four-year contract from the Fort Worth Transportation Authority (The T) to implement its NextBus Real-Time Passenger Information System (RTPIS) on an "Enhanced Bus Route" along the East Lancaster Ave. corridor from downtown Fort Worth to the Handley Historic District.

The route, featuring enhanced express services, will use nine dedicated buses equipped with NextBus GPS units, plus 17 NextBus LED signs installed at selected high-volume bus stops. NextBus also will implement its Telephone Information System to provide Fort Worth transit users with bus arrival information in English, Spanish or French.

In addition to providing real-time arrivals information to riders, The T will rely on NextBus’ full suite of management and reporting tools, including schedule adherence and headway reports and real-time status monitoring, in order to increase The T’s productivity. Implementation should be completed within five months.
