Wichita to hire advisor to gather transit feedback

WICHITA, Kan. — City officials plan on hiring a consultant to gather opinions about what people want from a bus system and whether they would be willing to pay to improve and expand it, according to the Wichita Eagle.

Last year, University of Kansas urban planning graduate students prepared a regional plan for Wichita Transit, which recommends north-south, east-west grid routes spaced about every half-mile.

The plan would cost an estimated $56 million per year with an additional $157 million needed for capital expenses, according to the report.

Opinions expressed during the outreach sessions would ultimately determine what kind of system Wichita aims for. For the full story, click here.
