Protesters object to ex-BART officer's early release

LOS ANGELES — Dozens of people showed up in front of the Los Angeles criminal courts building to protest the early release of Johannes Mehserle, the Bay Area Rapid Transit District (BART) officer convicted in the shooting death of an unarmed man at an Oakland transit station, according to the Los Angeles Times.

On Friday, L.A. County Superior Court Judge Robert J. Perry ruled Mehserle, who was sentenced last November, should be released because of credits for time served and good behavior. For the full story, click here.
