Phoenix transit reports incorrect figures for past 6 years

PHOENIX — A review of records by The Arizona Republic found that the Phoenix Public Transit Department misreported to the federal government the administrative costs of managing transit service for six consecutive years, The Arizona Republic reported.

In fiscal year 2009-10, the department reported its administrative overhead at $45 million. According to The Republic’s research, the actual administrative cost was $27 million. The Phoenix Public Transit Department told The Republic it had miscategorized some costs for that year and the five previous ones because of a clerical error and that the city will change the way it reports administrative costs.
