Free transit rides end for Chicago seniors

CHICAGO — The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA), Pace Bus and Metra will only offer free rides to low-income seniors, Chicago Sun-Times reported.

The CTA warned seniors about the change for months but is taking extra measures, including stationing personnel at key stations used by seniors to help them understand the new ways to pay their fare.

The free rides program was originally added to the 2008 transit bailout act by former Gov. Rod Blagojevich. For the full story, click here.
