Montreal program boosts ridership

MONTREAL — Area transit authorities are reporting an increase in annual transit pass holders following an offer by Quebec to pay for one month of public transportation, while other agencies serving clientele off Montreal Island say their ridership numbers had already been going up over the traffic-jammed summer, according to The Gazette.

In August, then-Quebec Transport minister Sam Hamad announced a series of measures aimed at reducing the number of motorists on Montreal roads to ease the strain on the area's detour-riddled road network. For the full story, click here.
