LOS ANGELES — The California Public Utilities Commission unanimously adopted a regulation prohibiting the use of cell phones by rail transit operators, reported The San Jose Mercury News. The decision, which was made during a Commission meeting last Thursday, also requires the installation of cameras to enforce the rule. The adoption of the regulation makes permanent an interim emergency order issued in September 2008.
