MV wins DART paratransit contract

MV Transportation Inc. was selected by the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) board of directors for its Mobility Management paratransit contract. Under the terms of this new seven-year, $186 million agreement, MV will provide service across the 13 City Metroplex of Dallas and more than 750,000 trips in the first year.

MV Transportation's service model represents $12 million in immediate cost savings and approximately $48 million in additional savings to DART over the next seven years. The company unseated the 11-year incumbent contractor with this win by receiving the highest technical score and providing the most cost savings for DART, according to the company.

MV's modified service model provides service through the use of taxi and other means of on-demand services to extend significant cost savings to DART and Dallas tax payers. The need for DART to invest in capital items, such as vehicles, technology and dedicated call center staff is eliminated by this agreement with MV. As a result, DART will experience a substantial reduction in cost per trip. In addition, MV will utilize its transit technology expertise at its local call center to bring unmatched technical support and will purchase a fleet of ADA purpose-built vehicles for this contract.

MV's contract commences Oct. 1, 2012; however, the company has already begun the transition of service and the hiring of dedicated DART employees for the company's Dallas-based National Call Center.
