The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration sent out an alert warning that another round of fraudulent U.S. Department of Transportation (U.S. DOT) letters dated March 16, 2012, are starting to circulate among motor carriers. The letters appear to be from the "U.S. Department of Transportation Procurement Office" and signed by a fictitious name of "Julie Weynel – Senior Procurement Officer." The letters are attempting to obtain banking information from the targeted companies.
FMCSA is asking operators to please be aware of this fraudulent financial data collection activity beginning again and suspicious when banking information is requested from you.
