Rep. Boehner urges party support for House authorization bill

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In a closed-door meeting, U.S. House of Representatives Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) implored fellow Republicans to pass a $260 billion transportation bill or be forced to settle for a less-ambitious measure being considered by the Democratic-controlled Senate, according to Reuters.

Rep. Boehner’s proposal, which has stalled due to the inability to garner Republican support, was meant to help the party stake an election-year claim to being the party of job creation. For the full story, click here.
