Translink has no authority to enforce fare evasion fines

VANCOUVER, B.C. —Translink officials have no authority to enforce the payment of fare evasion fines, according to a CBCnews report. While Translink does have the authority to issue the $173 tickets, it is the responsibility of the provincial automobile insurance agency ICBC to collect fines when people choose to pay them, but the ICBC has no authority to force people to pay.
