N.Y. Senator proposes Tasers for transit workers

NEW YORK — New York state Sen. Eric Adams, a retired NYPD captain, is renewing his proposal from last year to let commuter train and Amtrak crews carry Tasers, the New York Daily News reported. The measure died in committee last year. This year, after an increase in assaults on transit workers, Adams is re-introducing the idea and extending it to include bus drivers and subway contractors.

While the NYPD and New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority are against the proposal, the head of the transit workers union supports the idea. For the full story, click here.
