CHICAGO — Regional Transportation Authority Chairman John Gates says combining redundant service routes, purchasing, personnel, marketing and maintenance departments of the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA), Metra and Pace, could save taxpayers $150 million a year. The ideas were detailed in a memo addressed to RTA board members and to the CEOs of Metra, Pace and the CTA, reported the Chicago Sun-Times.
