LOS ANGELES — Labor unions expressed concern over an approximately $900-million contract that the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) awarded to Massachusetts-based Kinkisharyo, a subsidiary of the Kinki Sharyo Co. of Japan, to build 235 railcars, the sgvtribune.com reported.

Unions fear the contract will send jobs to Japan. Metro officials said that the agency required the contract winner to create jobs in the U.S. and that all three bidders committed to doing final assembly of the cars in Los Angeles County. For the full story, click here.
