Chicago transit to upgrade bus fleet

CHICAGO — As part of the Chicago Transit Authority’s (CTA) plans to move toward operating an upgraded bus fleet in the next two years, the agency plans to buy 425 buses and rebuild more than 1,000 older buses in a nearly half-billion-dollar modernization investment, the Chicago Tribune reported.  

CTA President Forrest Claypool told the Tribune that he thinks the agency will be able to reduce maintenance costs by millions of dollar annually, and use that money potentially to provide more bus service. For the full story, click here.
